Distance: 11.32 miles

Elevation Gain: 1,370 ft

Technicality: A mix. Mostly single track, some road

Difficulty: Mostly easy to moderate but gets steeper towards the pass.

Parking: Easy.

Water: Some water in lower sections (possibly seasonal)

Season: Impassable in winter.

Shared Use: Open to bicycles and motorized. Most of this trail provides a good view ahead so you can see them coming.

Directions to Trailhead:
Starting where Rouse/Bridger Canyon Rd crosses under I-90, drive up Bridger Canyon for 24.3 miles. Turn right onto Brackett Creek, cross the creek and the trailhead parking is on your right.

Note that this parking area also directly accesses single track trails. But for this ride you need to ride back to Bridger Canyon Rd, and cross it to access a dirt road. There is other parking down this dirt road but could be tight for trailers. Proceed past this parking through a wood fence onto the trail.

Timing: 3.5 hours at a casual pace (about 3+mph avg)

Notables: It’s only another .7 miles to Ross Pass. Had we known that we would have continued!

Alternate returnA mountain bike was along with us and continued to Ross Pass eventually connecting to the Battle Ridge trail to the Battle Ridge trailhead and then riding along the paved Bridger Canyon Rd back to the Brackett Creek trailhead. I have not yet explored Ross Pass to Battle Ridge on horseback to comment on trail conditions for a horse but it was no problem on a bike. If doing this loop version a horse, ***one trailer should be left at Battle Ridge and another at Brackett Creek*** as it is not recommended to ride on Bridger Canyon Rd with a horse. There are sections with a guard rail and no shoulder.
